Log finished Trello cards in a Notion database

Every card reaching your done list is written into a monthly database with the board, the list it came from and the date, so a board becomes a record.

Trigger: Card moved between lists
Action: Create a database item
About 6 minutes to set up

How this flow works

Syncline watches Trello for Card moved between lists. When that happens it runs Create a database item in Notion with the fields you mapped.

  1. Connect Trello and filter the trigger to cards arriving on your done list.
  2. Share the Notion database that keeps the monthly log.
  3. Map the card name, the members and the due date onto properties.
  4. Move one card to done, check the row, then let the log build itself.

Field mapping

From TrelloTo NotionNote
Card nameTitleThe card title becomes the page title, so the log reads the way the work was described on the board.
ListStatusThe list the card landed on writes the status, which is how done and cancelled stay countable separately.
MembersAssigneeCard members are matched to workspace people by email, so the log says who actually finished it.
Due dateDue dateThe deadline travels with the row, which lets you compare promised dates against real ones later.

Why teams run it

  • A board that gets archived still leaves a history
  • Monthly reporting is a Notion view, not a manual count
  • Nobody writes a weekly summary of what got done

Who uses it

A team lead who has to report throughput monthly and does not want to count cards by hand.

About the two apps

Trello

Trello is the task board people actually keep updated, because moving a card takes one second. Syncline creates those cards from other systems and reports back when they move.

All Trello flows

Notion

Notion holds the pages and databases most teams treat as their second brain. Syncline reads those databases on a schedule and writes rows back, so a page never has to be retyped somewhere else.

Questions

Can I log to a different database each month?
Point the flow at one database and use a date property for the month. A Notion view then groups it, which is easier than switching the target every four weeks.
Do card comments come across?
Not with this action. Add an append blocks step if you want the discussion written into the page body under the summary.
