Trello integration

Trello is the task board people actually keep updated, because moving a card takes one second. Syncline creates those cards from other systems and reports back when they move.

What Syncline does with Trello

<p>Trello is a board of lists holding cards. The whole appeal is that a person can look at it for four seconds and know where things stand, which is why it survives in teams that abandoned heavier project tools years ago.</p><p>The cards still have to come from somewhere. A support email, a new order, a form submission or a row marked ready in a database all describe work that needs doing, and each one arrives in a different app. Typing them onto a board is the sort of task that gets skipped on a busy day and then blamed on the board.</p><p>Syncline creates the card for you, with the title, description, due date, labels and members already set from the source record. Attachments come across as attachments, and a link back to the original record goes on the card so nobody has to search for context.</p><p>Movement on the board is a signal too. When a card reaches Done, the customer can be emailed, the CRM deal can advance and the finance sheet can get its row, all from the same one-second drag that a person was going to do anyway.</p>

Triggers and actions

A trigger starts a flow. An action is what Syncline does next.

Triggers in Trello

<dl class="sy-deflist"><dt>New card on a list</dt><dd>Fires when a card is added to a list you selected, however it got there.</dd><dt>Card moved between lists</dt><dd>Fires on a move, with the origin and destination list names both available for filtering.</dd><dt>Due date approaching</dt><dd>Fires a set number of hours before a due date, which is how a board turns into a reminder system.</dd><dt>New comment on a card</dt><dd>Fires when somebody comments, carrying the text and the member who wrote it.</dd><dt>Label added to a card</dt><dd>Fires on a specific label, a quick manual way to send one card into a flow.</dd></dl>

Actions in Trello

<dl class="sy-deflist"><dt>Create a card</dt><dd>Adds a card to a chosen list with title, description, due date, labels and members set.</dd><dt>Move a card to a list</dt><dd>Advances a card when the signal comes from elsewhere, such as an invoice being paid.</dd><dt>Add a checklist</dt><dd>Attaches a checklist with items you define, so a standard process arrives with the card.</dd><dt>Add a comment</dt><dd>Posts an update onto the card, which keeps the history on the board where people read it.</dd><dt>Set or clear a due date</dt><dd>Writes a deadline from a date field in the source record, or removes one when work is done.</dd></dl>

Fields you can map

<div class="sy-table-wrap"><table><thead><tr><th>Field</th><th>Type</th><th>What it holds</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Card name</td><td>text</td><td>The card title, usually mapped from a subject line or a record name.</td></tr><tr><td>List</td><td>string</td><td>The column the card sits in, which is what most flows filter and react on.</td></tr><tr><td>Board</td><td>string</td><td>The board containing the list. One flow works on one board at a time.</td></tr><tr><td>Due date</td><td>datetime</td><td>The deadline, with a complete or incomplete state Trello tracks separately.</td></tr><tr><td>Members</td><td>user list</td><td>Assigned people, matched by username or by the email on their Trello account.</td></tr><tr><td>Labels</td><td>multi-select</td><td>Colour and name pairs. Syncline will not invent a label that does not exist on the board.</td></tr></tbody></table></div>

Popular Trello automations

<ul><li>Create a card from every support email that gets labelled</li><li>Move a card to Paid when Stripe reports a successful charge</li><li>Post to Slack when a card lands in Blocked</li><li>Create cards from Airtable rows entering a Ready view</li><li>Log finished cards as rows in a monthly Notion database</li></ul>

Connecting your Trello account

1
Authentication OAuth 1.0a
2
What we ask for Trello asks you to authorise Syncline for the boards your account can see, and you pick the single board a flow may touch. Revoking the token from your Trello account settings ends access at once.
3
Rate limits Trello typically allows around one hundred requests every ten seconds per token, which Syncline stays under by grouping card updates.

Questions about Trello

<div class="sy-faq"><details><summary>Can one flow cover several boards?</summary><div>A flow works on one board so the list names stay unambiguous. Teams running the same process for several clients usually copy the flow and switch the board.</div></details><details><summary>What happens to attachments?</summary><div>Files from the source record are uploaded to the card. When the file is too large, we attach the link instead and note it in the run history.</div></details><details><summary>Does the due date reminder fire on the weekend?</summary><div>Yes by default. Add a filter on the day of the week if your team only wants weekday reminders.</div></details><details><summary>Can Syncline archive a card?</summary><div>Moving a card to a list you use for finished work is the supported pattern. We avoid archiving because it is harder for a person to undo.</div></details><details><summary>Will it create the same card twice?</summary><div>Not if you map a unique value into the card description or a custom field. The flow finds the existing card and comments on it instead.</div></details></div>

Other integrations

Stripe

Stripe knows the moment money arrives, fails or goes back out. Syncline turns each of those events into something your team can see and act on within a couple of minutes.

Trello

Trello is the task board people actually keep updated, because moving a card takes one second. Syncline creates those cards from other systems and reports back when they move.

Airtable

Airtable is where teams build the tracker no off-the-shelf tool provides. Syncline keeps that base fed from your other apps and sends its rows onward when something changes.

HubSpot

HubSpot is the record of who your customers are and how far along they got. Syncline feeds it from the places leads actually arrive, and pushes deal changes back out to the team.

Gmail

Plenty of work still arrives as an email and stays there. Syncline turns matching messages into records in your other apps, and sends mail back out when something changes.

Slack

Slack is where a team notices things, which makes it the best place to put an alert and the worst place to store one. Syncline sends messages into channels when something happens elsewhere, and turns the replies worth keeping into records.

Notion

Notion holds the pages and databases most teams treat as their second brain. Syncline reads those databases on a schedule and writes rows back, so a page never has to be retyped somewhere else.
