Syncline

Copy new Trello cards into an Airtable base

Cards are easy to read and hard to report on, so each new one becomes a row with the list, the members and the deadline in real fields.

Trigger: New card on a list
Action: Create a record
About 7 minutes to set up

How this flow works

Syncline watches Trello for New card on a list. When that happens it runs Create a record in Airtable with the fields you mapped.

  1. Connect Trello and choose the board and list to watch.
  2. Connect the base and pick the table that mirrors the board.
  3. Map the card fields onto columns and set the card name as the match key.
  4. Add one card, check the row, then leave the flow to fill the base.

Field mapping

From TrelloTo AirtableNote
Card nameNameThe card title becomes the primary field, which Airtable requires and never lets you remove.
ListStatusThe list becomes a single select, which is what makes a board countable in a chart.
MembersOwnerCard members are matched to base collaborators by the email on their accounts.
Card nameRecord IDThe flow looks for a row already named after this card and reuses its record ID, so a copied card never doubles the base.

Why teams run it

  • A board gains grouping, filtering and real charts
  • Cycle time can be measured instead of estimated
  • The base keeps history after cards are archived

Who uses it

An operations analyst asked how long work takes, from a board that keeps no numbers.

About the two apps

Trello

Trello is the task board people actually keep updated, because moving a card takes one second. Syncline creates those cards from other systems and reports back when they move.

Airtable

Airtable is where teams build the tracker no off-the-shelf tool provides. Syncline keeps that base fed from your other apps and sends its rows onward when something changes.

Questions

Does it keep the row updated after the card moves?
Add a second flow on the card moved trigger with the update record action. The create flow handles arrival and the second one handles everything after.
What about checklists on the card?
They come across as text into a long field. If you need them as rows, use a separate table linked by the card name.
