Syncline

Open a Trello card for each new Stripe customer

The first time a customer object exists, an onboarding card opens on your board with the email, the value and the checklist your team works through.

Trigger: New customer created
Action: Create a card
About 5 minutes to set up

How this flow works

Syncline watches Stripe for New customer created. When that happens it runs Create a card in Trello with the fields you mapped.

  1. Connect Stripe with read scopes and choose the new customer event.
  2. Connect Trello and pick the board and the list onboarding starts on.
  3. Map the email onto the card name and the amount onto a size label.
  4. Create a test customer, look at the card, then connect the live account.

Field mapping

From StripeTo TrelloNote
Customer emailCard nameThe card is named with the customer address, so the board can be searched the same way support searches Stripe.
AmountLabelsA size label is chosen from the value, using labels already on the board rather than inventing new ones.
CreatedDue dateOnboarding is due a set number of days after signup, which is how a promise becomes a visible deadline.
StatusListA trialling customer can start on a different list from a paying one, decided by the state on the Stripe record.

Why teams run it

  • Onboarding starts the hour somebody pays
  • Bigger customers are visible on the board by label
  • The checklist means every new account gets the same start

Who uses it

A customer success lead who used to hear about new signups from a weekly export.

About the two apps

Stripe

Stripe knows the moment money arrives, fails or goes back out. Syncline turns each of those events into something your team can see and act on within a couple of minutes.

All Stripe flows

Trello

Trello is the task board people actually keep updated, because moving a card takes one second. Syncline creates those cards from other systems and reports back when they move.

Questions

Should I use new customer or first payment?
Use new customer for a trial you want to nurture and first payment when onboarding costs real time. Some teams build both, on different lists.
Can the card carry the plan name?
Yes, put it in the description or as a label. The subscription trigger carries the plan explicitly if the plan is the thing your team acts on.
