Log Slack conversations on the HubSpot timeline
What was said about an account in chat is written onto the contact record, so the next rep reads the history instead of asking around.
How this flow works
Syncline watches Slack for New message in a channel. When that happens it runs Log an activity in HubSpot with the fields you mapped.
- Invite Syncline to the client channels you want recorded.
- Connect the HubSpot portal and approve the contacts and timeline scopes.
- Tell the flow how to find the contact: an address in the message, or the channel name.
- Post a test line, open the contact in HubSpot, then widen the flow to more channels.
Field mapping
| From Slack | To HubSpot | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Message text | The flow reads a customer address out of the message and matches the HubSpot contact on it. | |
| Author | Owner | The Slack member who wrote it is matched by email and recorded as the owner of the activity. |
| Channel | Company | A channel named after the account tells the flow which company the note belongs to. |
| Message text | Deal amount | A figure such as a quoted price can be written to the deal when you switch that mapping on. |
Why teams run it
- Account history survives someone leaving the company
- Nobody copies a chat thread into the CRM by hand
- Handover takes a read, not a meeting
Who uses it
An account manager who runs a shared channel per client and needs the CRM to know what was promised.
About the two apps
Slack
Slack is where a team notices things, which makes it the best place to put an alert and the worst place to store one. Syncline sends messages into channels when something happens elsewhere, and turns the replies worth keeping into records.
HubSpot
HubSpot is the record of who your customers are and how far along they got. Syncline feeds it from the places leads actually arrive, and pushes deal changes back out to the team.
