Turn starred emails into Notion database rows
Star a message and it becomes a row, so the research, the supplier quote or the half-answered question leaves the inbox and joins your actual system.
How this flow works
Syncline watches Gmail for New starred email. When that happens it runs Create a database item in Notion with the fields you mapped.
- Connect the Gmail account and choose the starred trigger.
- Share the Notion database that should collect these rows.
- Map the subject onto the title and the recipient alias onto the person property.
- Star one message, look at the row, then tell the team that a star means capture.
Field mapping
| From Gmail | To Notion | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Subject | Title | The subject line becomes the page title, which is what most people search on later. |
| To | Assignee | The alias the mail was sent to decides ownership, so sales mail and support mail land on different people. |
| From | Tags | The sender domain is stored as a tag, which lets you group a database by who writes in most. |
| Received at | Due date | The arrival time seeds the date property with an offset you set, so a reply deadline is visible. |
Why teams run it
- Capture costs one keystroke, from a phone as well
- The body arrives as page content, not as a screenshot
- A mailbox stops being the place work hides
Who uses it
A founder who reads on the train and wants the interesting mail waiting in Notion at the office.
About the two apps
Gmail
Plenty of work still arrives as an email and stays there. Syncline turns matching messages into records in your other apps, and sends mail back out when something changes.
Notion
Notion holds the pages and databases most teams treat as their second brain. Syncline reads those databases on a schedule and writes rows back, so a page never has to be retyped somewhere else.
